As a professional quarterback I am constantly working to improve my game. After playing football at all different levels, I can confidently say that there is more to the game of football than pure physicality. That got me thinking about my gear. During long and cold days on the field, the one piece of equipment I consistently turned to was a hand pouch — but it kept letting me down! I use my hands for every play. Without my hands, I can’t do my job to the fullest. Cold hands make it more difficult to throw the ball, which is why you often see QBs wearing those bulky hand pouches around their waists. I felt like the hand pouch that I had been using was flawed. The fit was too awkward and it did not keep my hands as warm as I hoped. Among other things, the pouch would bounce, shake and move while I would run or throw. Throughout my 18 years of playing football, I have worn several different hand pouches. I have always liked particular elements of each one, so I wanted a pouch that combined all my favorites features. But, when I went searching for my ideal hand pouch, it just wasn’t there. After months of research, I decided I didn’t need to reinvent the wheel to create the most useful hand pouch. Instead, I could innovate the product based off my experiences with past products. By using a streamlined design and specialized fabrics, I developed the perfect hand pouch for all of us.
That is how Roo Outdoor was born.
Since it’s inception, Roo Outdoor has grown beyond my initial football-related inspiration. The more I continue to develop the brand, the more it challenges me to be active. This is the vision I have for Roo Outdoor, to ‘Embrace the Elements.’ Better yet to Embrace YOUR Element, whatever it may be. Attack your life in such a way that you achieve exactly what you want. Achieve things that other people are too scared to achieve. Challenge, ask questions and lead!
